MCC All About Zentangle - Wk 4 More Ideas

Links: MCC (My Creative Classroom), Marie Browning

In addition to Zendalas Marie also gave us an extensive gallery of different ideas for future (beyond the course) tangling projects. I selected a couple to try now using more of the tangles Marie had given instructions for. Time & again I find the actual act of working on an example enables me to uncover not only information about products but my own responses to techniques or formats of artwork in general.

This tile provoked some thought whilst I worked on it for I found I felt somewhat constrained by the 'landscape' format. There's somehow a freedom & spontaneity in the traditional Zentangle black & white that I find lacking when trying to make a picture like this. I tentatively tried using a little Sansodor with my Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils but the Pigma Micron linework started to smear - however not as badly as I'd anticipated - another bit of product knowledge to file away.

tangles: Crescent Moon, Dust Bunnies, Fractal Tree, Girdy, Hazen, Pina, Stack, Toeter, Vermal
coloured using Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils with a dry paper stump

One of the examples Marie showed was a Zendala tangled on kraft cardstock & coloured using Tombow Markers plus a white gel pen. My kraft card tile uses the tangle Tore-Up with K-Ning inside it.

These are amazing! That landscape is superb, and the Kraft one looks so 3d! Fantastic!

More great tangling - just love the landscape with the 'heap' growing with the fall out from above - ingenious! The white really glows on the kraft card example.

Oooh fantastic tangles as always Paula. I love the landscape one but I also love the way the white pops on the Kraft card

Your landscape is very intriguing Paula, love the way you have interpreted the various elements, the dust bunnies in the sky are brilliant, and the 'rubble chute' is a stroke of genius.
Will have to try out some of your examples, love the one at the base of the tile, I am guessing that it is STACK.
Nice torn out effect on your Kraft tile as well, very effective colouring.
I have managed to spot both of your signatures this time :)
Thank you so much for your blog it really is an inspiration.

Fabulous Paula!
I have enjoyed so much to see you embrace all the many techniques you have tried, and I do think the tangles are my favourites (though I do also love the tags)

Now I think the landscape is amazing!
The tile is packed full of intricate little details, so much to keep me looking but not too much as to detract from the overall landscape design. It''s perfect Paula!

The kraft (to me)is the opposite end of the spectrum. Less detailed and more simplistic to look at, but the design is perfectly formed and it 'draws the eye inwards'.

Two stunning tiles!

Big hugs

Wonderful projects Paula, I love the effect of the white on Kraft, it's as if you are peeking beneath the surface of the Kraft card.
